Things I pass on the motorway

Strangely, I seem to pass the following things quite regularly on my way home up the M5:

  • Two Airbus lorries in convoy

  • A large open lorry with a load of green wheelbarrows on it

  • Two sections of a prefabricated house/building, again on two lorries in convoy

  • The man with glasses, large grey beard driving a diesel blue 206 estate

Are we sure this isn't the trueman show?

All change

Well, there we go, most things are now different. New job, new car and potentially new location, but that's going to take a while.

New job is certainly different, its strange to leave you first place, and especially so since you have worked there most of your current working life (both before and after uni). Anyway, i'm commuting 110 miles a day, which sucks, so a better solution needs to be found for the medium term. That brings me to the car... A 2004 Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI - :oD

Anyway, as I have to get up at stupid-o-clock, its time for me to get some sleep.

Johnny Cash

One of the things that frustrates me when it comes to his music, is my voice isn't quite deep enough to keep up... Perhaps more cigarettes and whisky are in order. Then again, perhaps not.

Pro-life Zealot Refused Treatment

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/norfolk/4750647.stm I completely agree with the stance of the hospital on this one. I'm sick of single-issue zealots getting away with abusing and terrorising innocent staff who have contraversial jobs (such as those animal rights people who descicrated the grave of the relative of a guineau pig farm owner(http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/staffordshire/4971988.stm)).

I can't see how this sort of behaviour can help your cause. Fuck you all, you disgusting wankers. At least its finally acceptable to stand up to these people.

Bored now...

I'm now completely bored of this cold which I guess sort of started on thursday as a bit of a sore throat. I've actually got lots to do by friday and can't really afford another day off work.

Oh well, found a useful website last week, if you ever find yourself wanting graph paper.

Weather is improving, and tomorrow looks like it could be the first shorts contender of the year - yay :) Unfortunately, its probably not the best idea if I'm ill...

Hmmm

Well, its the end of my worst day at work for quite some time. Lots of perfectly formed mountains from molehills just due to people not realising that they were playing chinese whispers.

Anwyay, its left me wondering why I always seem to have to work so hard for what other people seem to get to fall in their lap without trying?

Anyway, I seem to have sold my powerbook, which is nice. I have other stuff that needs shifting too... Anyone want an ADSL router?

The Weather

Ok, that's enough now. Completely sick of it being cold all the time. Bring back the summer.... We've all had enough.

Anyway, one thing that I've noticed that in winter I don't seem to look at the weather forecast. Perhaps I just don't want to know at this time of year.

Holiday, Christmas life, and the new year

Lowey is right. We're all pretty much being crap at regular blogging. Personally, this is because I don't seem to have the patience at the moment to sit down and type out some relatively long prose.

Basically, the last few months have consisted of:

  • America Absolutely splendid holiday in early November. We saw everything we possibly could have in Boston and New York, and I wish I could go back to see all the bits and bobs that we didn't get chance to. I could probably live in Boston, as its such a nice place, but New York is a truely amazing place to visit, if you've ever seen a stereotype of the city on TV or in a film, be that people carrying little poodle dogs, hot dog stands, the subway or some random religious nut hobo, its true. Its one of those places where anything can, and probably does happen.
Basically, we flew to Boston, did everything there for a few days, then hired a large SUV and drove to new york, via some places in Rhode Island, just to get an idea of what goes on around the place.

  • Work Since returning, I've been working a lot of extra hours to get us on top of a few things. It's a tough choice to take a chunk out of your own time for your work, but I'm sort of hoping that the extra effort will pay off.

  • Christmas Christmas was alright. To be honest, it was probably not at an ideal time given the amount I had to do, but such is life.

Well, I think that's about it. Telly broke before Christmas, need a new one, but don't want to spend £200 to get an LCD one. Unfortunately there's far less choice for a bog standard 15" CRT TV these days.

Dentist next week, which won't be fun.

Oh, and I've started to be on call one week in five, which is interesting. Enforced sobriety every so often is probably doing my liver good.
